The Black Swan Inn, Swanage

Love the fossil in the yard! Had a great meal and felt very welcome...

The Red Lion, Swanage

Visited this pub last summer on my hol's! Thought it was great! no nonsense proper pub in a town filled with somewhat twee, 'shabby chic' establishments. I found the staff to be friendly and the ales excellent.

The Reservoir, Brighton

Not a new pub at all! first licenced in 1863 as the reservoir tavern due to it sharing the locale with the underground reservoir (opposite the constant service) Had a brief spell offering sunbeds with your pint in the 80's! A good made-over pub/bar offering Harveys best and a guest ale(summerlightning at time of visit) both superbly kept. And a good range of continental lagers. A gem of a pub in an area of once wonderful inn's now sadly lost or butcherd!

The Basketmakers Arms, Brighton

every now and then you come across a pub that, for whatever reason, is a joy to drink in. the Wellington arms in Bedford is one... and the Basketmakers, Brighton is another. Admitedly, we all have our favorite beer or brewer and neither of mine are available here... however the ales that are available are superbly kept and the pub has the turnover to ensure that you never get a bad pint. The food is excellent and complements the atmosphere perfectly. At risk of sounding dry this is a proper pub for proper people. Quite refreshing in a town...sorry City! of ber cool restaurants and bars!
