The Regent, Balham

Big pub, pretty good for sport - two big screens, large bar area, standard pub beer and food. Palace supporters were disappointed the pub didnt open at 11am, and that when it did open at a normal time, their dream of a pub full of eagles chants never eventuated - the quiet sobbing in the corner was rather annoying though.

The Famous 3 Kings (F3K), West Kensington

Pool tables and spitting distance to West Kensington Station - well, pretty much spitting distance anyway. The local totty were giving it a shot but couldnt quiet make the distance. A good showing of sport here, but the bouncer at 5pm on a weeknight says a bit about the place. Pool tables though...

The Mash Bar, Oxford Circus

Deadly house-brewed beers at this funky bar that gets going pretty early in the evening. Highly rated on the blurr-ometer - its a blurr where I left my phone and how I got home, and its a blur where my mate left his Ukraine-girlfriend.

The Boathouse, Putney

Heaving with Fulham supporters because of its location for home games - Al Fayed put back a few Fosters before the big game with his peeps when I was there. Still, it seemed like a great pub that would have plenty of action on a sunny day with its large outdoor area and big windows with views to the river. Lots of bar staff for service.

The Fox, West Kensington

Despite the focus on sport, its a pretty average pub - at times it has seemed a favourite amongst a few locals that start at 9 in the morning, the kitchen either seems to be out of order, or preferably that way. Standard lagers on tap with a few bottles of standard aussie export for the bar staff. Its got a pool table though. Apparently there is a club type thing that kicks off upstairs - good knife fights up there?

The Hansom Cab, Kensington

It seemed to be a real hidden prize, but has since fallen out of favour. Perhaps it was the disappearance of the very cute polish bar maid, or the change of manager? The unusual decor, paintings, and other querky furnishings give it a funky feel. Real cider on tap for Fulham supporters and some good food - it has plenty going for it but just doesnt have the same draw it had - maybe if they brought back the polish bar maid ?

The Cumberland Arms, West Kensington

6 out of 10 for 6 pints on a lunch break. Thank you for my most enjoyable afternoon at work. The wine list didnt stack up to my friends nostril test - he only managed to get though 1 bottle plus a few tasters from the very friendly staff. The food was better than the average pub, with some interesting selections.

The Scarsdale Tavern, Kensington

A hidden gem on a sunny day - tough to get a table though - so have strong legs. Big servings of steak and chips. Unfortunately this place will always be tainted by my memory of Chelsea supporters top movie as Universal Soldier, and even worse, Liverpool supporters' love of Jerry Maguire - however, great pub, the bar maid had me at "allo".

The Kings Head, Earls Court

Fulham supporters promised me a very attractive bar maid - he was very very friendly, but, I was expecting a fem. Despite that setback - a great beer list, good sangers (with free soup!), a non-smoking section and wireless internet to surf for porn and gambling (...well next time!).

The Curtain's Up, West Kensington

Despite being struck in the head by a flying window, this pub is quite a gem - compared to the nearby F3K's and Fox. Fulham supporters were encouraged by the reasonably priced pints, but Palace fans were impatient with the slow bar service. Like a page out of our companies IT service manual, the kitchen would be out of service for between 20mins and 2 days, so we couldnt fairly judge the food. Nice sounding chalk boards however.

The Colton Arms, Barons Court

A quirky but nice pub that time forgot. Despite the warm shandy for my gender reassigned friend, the creepy 'dead bodies in the basement' feel the land-lady presented, expensive small lager list and intoxicating chemical spray in the garden - it was worth the visit. For the locals however.
