The Three Tuns, Uxbridge

Please go there while there is still one old fashioned unpretentious pub left in Uxbridge. The Pride was spot on, I know it isn't rocket science, but it's more than most pubs seem capable of these days. Freindly staff and quick service although this was at 15-00h ish. The joys of being retired.

The Crown and Sceptre, Uxbridge

Won't be going again. Wine selection was poor, house only and that was French "mongrel". Wife chose the salmon because it came with new potatoes, they had not troubled the hot water for very long and were inedible. A complaint did not even get an apology. I was a bit miffed as the "specials" just listed 2 choices off the standard menu at list price, a bit of a con.

Rockwoods, Aylesbury

Went there again when in Aylesbury, has it changed hands? We were disapointed this time. Some food blew your head off and some was too bland. The cask beer seemed to have a bit of the finings still suspended as well. Drink prices have gone through the roof 9 for a large wine and a pint? I have paid 6 for a large Chablis in a posh pub in South Bucks, seemed dear for glass of plonk in this homely place.

Three Horseshoes, Princethorpe

Stopped for Sunday lunch no planning just "passing trade". It was packed but they fitted us in and we gor served fast even though one of us had the optional veggie. Beer was well kept (Pedigree) and prises were fine. Food was not portion controlled it took some time to get through it all. A bit of an old fashioned English contry pub experience, but IMHO none the worse for that.

7th Aug 09. Keen young couple running it. Doing food all day home made and cooked to order, we have done as lot worse. Not expensive 30 for 2 off us 2 courses and 2 large wines and 2 pints. i had scrumpy on draught but st 6% went onto to the guest real ale (Flowers) both well kept, again often more than todays kids can be bothered with. Surpisingly good and would recommend
