The Shoulder Of Mutton, Bradwell

A great country pub, always full of friendly locals and has a great landlord and landlady pairing in Alf and Christine, who are always great value for money.

The pub is a freehouse so always a great selection of beers on offer whatever your tastes, and its kept well too.

When I last visited it was karioke. There was some great talent singing, in particular a lad called Ben who did a great version of Rick Astley's 'never gonna give you up'. Hell of a singer!

Ye Olde Nags Head, Castleton

I recently had a belt busting 'all you can eat' Sunday carvery and it was fantastic. There's great beer too, with Erdinger (or more aptly Edringer) on tap!

I have to disagree with the comments below, I met Ben on my visit, a very friendly and handsome young man. The French/Canadian chef, Dan, is always on hand for a laugh as well, all in all a great team of waitresses, waiters and chefs.

However, the best thing about the place is how they have welcomed Sophie into the kitchen. She's on a local authority special needs placement and on all accounts is learning well, currently in charge of the frier.

I can't recommend the Nag's Head enough and will be back there this Sunday!
