Pear Tree, Kings Heath

Can't fault the quality and price of the real ale always something good behind the bar . The atmosphere is fine and I like the architecture. Food can be hit of miss though

The Hare and Hounds, Kings Heath

This music venue has a good selection of beers usually Purity . It gets an high score for hosting a free blues club on a Saturday afternoon

24 Jan 2015 16:56

Loco Lounge, Kings Heath

Standard Loungers Bar . Food up to usual good standard with a strong focus on Coffee Cakes and Breakfast . Good range of alcoholic drink improved by addition of Atlantic IPA. I'd take the kids or as business associate to feed and water them in a friendly atmosphere. Not a pub more than a family wine bar by design.

Goose on Two Streets, Kings Heath

Always seems busy as its handily placed for Clientele to sign on at Kings Heath Jobcentre . Only draft beer that looked safe to drink is the Carlsburg

24 Jan 2015 16:40

One Trick Pony Club, Moseley

OMG . They've spent all that money to change it into O'Neils without the music . To summarize same bad beer without the ambiance .

24 Jan 2015 16:31

The Dark Horse, Moseley

Food to die for and a good selection of craft ales are the headline here. The unique selling point is the selection of wood smoked meats and pizzas . The beer is has its own ranged of excellent value beers alongside Purity fare...if you need feeding in Moseley this the joint..

The Winchester, Hapton

This was converted into an house in 2008

The Bridge House Inn, Hapton

Unfortunately this was closed in 2006

15 Jul 2014 21:18

The Rishton Arms, Rishton

Well kept Thwaites Original is the only Real Ale . I have gone in a couple of times before catching the Pub Coach to Blackburn Rovers Home Matches .. This is a good Unique Selling Point

15 Jul 2014 21:17

The Railway Hotel, Pleasington

Refurbished for 2014 this is now under new management . 3 Local Real Ales on at any one time with a selection of Ciders manufactured by the owners - Food Menu looked Good the highlight being the Weekend Breakfast . 2 Minutes walk from the Rail Station a pleasant trip from either Preston or Blackburn

15 Jul 2014 21:13

Last Plantagenet, Leicester

This was a below par Wetherspoons . It was the most disappointing pub in the 6 pub crawl that we went on .

15 Jul 2014 21:07

Marquis Wellington, Leicester

Thought the Everards Flight of 3 1/3 Beers was very good . Standard Everards pub .

15 Jul 2014 21:05

Old Horse, Leicester

Food Good . Beer very good went in for 1 stayed for 6 ...... very good range of Everards . Staff very friendly

15 Jul 2014 21:02

Goose At The Fighting Cocks, Moseley

Agree with all of the previous reviewers this pub has a very overated sense of importance - however in my opinion it isnt keeping up with The Prince OF Wales - Evidence :
1. Choice Of Ales not impressive for Moseley - Doom bar not well kept
2. When I have gone in I never stay for another beer
3. Visibly the most expensive in Moseley
4. Being Middle Aged and fat I find it difficult to get served
5 . Pub closes at 10.30 sharp on Sundays . Now the publican is entitled to do this but the Security Staff state that they are complying with Local Licencing Laws - can the licencee please employ door staff that qualified this century please .

15 Jul 2014 20:57

One Trick Pony Club, Moseley

I should hate this pub - No decent beer and they've never got any ice for shorts but and this is a big but ye gods they have the best acts on Friday and Saturday Nights - no one spectacular but the place is rocking - my favorite is Mullighan and Mullighan . Yes all of the other pubs in Moseley have a wide selection of pricey trendy drinks but when theres an act on this is the place to be ............

15 Jul 2014 20:40

Old Moseley Arms, Balsall Heath

Agree with straightnochaser ( review Oct 2013) clean well run traditional pub selling real ale and Indian Food - definately worth a visit

15 Jul 2014 20:32

Jekyll and Hyde, Birmingham

I really enjoy going in The Jeckyl and Hyde because its an hip place to drink . Absolutely the Gin capital of the Midlands any Gin Fan I send there cant believe that its so well stocked and even on a Cold Wednesday Afternoon we found the bar staff well versed in the opportunities . Cocktails are imaginative and plenty of Trendy music after 5 on the weekend . Can be crowded with the latest trend setters after 8..........
Ok whats in it for the Real Ale Scene .. Couple of good Guest Beers - Purity Mad Goose and Thornbridge Jaipur have been spotted and the food is pretty good as well
So in conclusion interested well run and lively - not everybodys bag but it is what it is .... worth a visit on any account

15 Jul 2014 20:27

The Woodman, Birmingham

Good traditional no frills pub with traditional fittings . Great selection of fine real ales and ciders. Limited but cheap and hearty food menu . No TV so no football absolutely the first place Id go for a quiet chat and drink ...

3 Oct 2013 21:48

The Red Lion, Erdington

Drifted in and stayed for the Karaoke on a Saturday Night - Bog Standard Bitter but it was drinkable -- usual lager fare - Wouldnt have stayed for more than 1 if the Karaoke wasnt so good

3 Oct 2013 21:47

Charlie Hall, Erdington

Clean with a relaxed atmosphere which always seems busy .... This is a better than average Wetherspoon and a good place to visit in Erdington

3 Oct 2013 21:44

, Digbeth

I have been in here under two guises - "Away Fan at a Blues Match Man" and " Going out for a few Beers on a Saturday Night Man" - On both cases everyone was happy - Real Ale fans found lots to like , Good Choice of lagers and Ciders for the Youngsters and a relaxed atmosphere all round ....... Number 1 pub on my lets have a beer in Digbeth

3 Oct 2013 21:40

The Briar Rose, Birmingham

Best Spoons in the Centre of Birmingham - Service was quick , it was the usual Spoons Prices - Atmosphere relaxed - Good Place to meet your mates for a couple at the start of a night out

3 Oct 2013 21:34

The Post Office Vaults, Birmingham

Best Pub in Birmingham - Its down some stairs handy for New Street Station but I have stopped dropping in for a quick one as this normally drags out to a 3 hour visit - 8 Real Ales on at any time about 500+ bottled beers - The Bar Staff know their beer but you know the best thing there's always someone in who will have a chat with you - normally someone from Rugby or Shrewsbury who has come specifically to have a beer in the POV .... Like I said you have to be strong willed to drop in for a quick beer

3 Oct 2013 21:30

The Craven Arms, Birmingham

Look out all you Brum Real Ale Pubs there a new Kids on the Block and its consistently Good - Have dropped in with several sets out people and everybody loves it -- Good selection of Real Ales at Reasonable Prices best Pork Scratching in the West Midlands - No music so you can have a great chat ...... You'll miss out if you dont visit

10 Jun 2012 22:46

The The Gate Inn, Sutton Coldfield

This is a very quiet pub at the moment as it appears to be changing hands . However it has a good range of well kept real ales with Timothy Taylors Landlord being the staple - features Purity and Wye Valley amongsts others . Was in a couple of Saturdays and they had on a great ska/motown dj .......so decent music and top beer - struggling to give it less than ten

10 Jun 2012 22:43

The Three Tuns, Sutton Coldfield

This is one of a brace of Thwaites pubs in Sutton - The other being the White Lion in Mere Green . Very fine collection of Thwaites beers - excellent pint of Wainwright for instance - good selection of bands at the weekends - A good place to watch football - equally nice and quiet during the week - New entryin CAMRA Beer Guide for 2013 .... worth a visit

10 Jun 2012 22:39

Station, Sutton Coldfield

Really want to like this place as it has a massive beer garden with lots of gimmicks like a train set but ..... Although they have 3 real ales on at anyone time the Timothy Taylors Landlord just isnt in the same league of The Gate next door and the food isnt good value for money ...... I always go in for 1 and come out disappointed

10 Jun 2012 22:34

The Bishop Vesey, Boldmere

Typical Wetherspoons - food hot quick filling and good value - Real ale better than avereage for a Wetherspoons - alway seems busy but a good place for a natter ........ Probably my favorite Wetherspoons in Brum

The Wylde Green, Wylde Green

A Hungry Horse pub with a full range of beers including some real ales . Entertainment is sky sports in one area of the pub but you can sit in the family area and eat a wide range of pub grub in peace . If you are eating I would recommend the 20 ounce steaks .........delicious

10 Jun 2012 22:27

The Boldmere Oak, Boldmere

Had to think about how to rate this - This is an excellent place to watch sports - I dont go into watch footy there often but they have good sized TVS and beer is excellent - Have been in on a few Fridays and they have a DJ on . Not a real ale joint but doesnt pretend to be .......

10 Jun 2012 22:22

The Yenton, Birmingham

This is a sizzling steak pub . The food is good and hot - service is excellent - It has some cask ales but they arent the best - Stella and Guiness are very moreish - Have a selection of discos and local bands on at the weekends - A good place to hang out

The Cup Inn, Sutton Coldfield

This is the only Thwaites pub that I have ever seen in Brum - Great pint of Lancaster Bomber . Good place to start a crawl
