Rose Villa Tavern, Birmingham

This pub is an architectural gem (pun intended (its in the jewellery quarter)) - a beautiful Victorian interior - the pride of Birmingham.

Sadly...

this place has all the atmosphere of a bike shed - upon entering one is greeted by the smell of urinal blocks and a blaring TV. The place is cluttered with gaming machines and crappy arcade games. Posters plaster the walls advertising various sporting events to be shown on the big screen.

Unsurprisingly it's nearly always empty

The finest Victorian pub in Birmingham... in the whole of England stinks of neglect and decay while other Jewellery quarter pubs make a killing.

The Pie Factory, Tipton

Beer was reasonable but that's all I can say about this cheerless dump. I was served our drinks by an ignorant sour faced woman and then sent to another hatch to order food from a man who was only capable of the occasional hostile grunt while he took my 17 for two pie and chips meals.

When the food came it was bland, undercooked and very average.
Needless to say I will never return

Victoria, Birmingham

Loved it, new quirky little place, well managed and good prompt service. If its a Gay pub it's very straight friendly.

The Old Contemptibles, Birmingham

Good old boozer, sensitively restored and modernised. Barstaff are decent and there's a good selection of beers. Not ideal when The Suits turn out of their cubicles but ok after about 8pm.

Wasnt impressed with the food recently (mushroom risotto with chicken breast) chicken tough as an old boot, risotto luke warm and tasteless...but hey, I dont really go to pubs if I want great food

The Bulls Head, Moseley

Pub choice of the Chinless Wonder, the Empty Suit and the Weekend Warrior. Would rather give my money to Simon Cowell.

The Plough, Harborne

A neo-bourgeois nightmare, bland beyond belief and so far up its own arse you can smell the shit from across the road.

The Patrick Kavanagh, Moseley

Gets really packed at weekends. Good for the big screen sport, fast service and decent prices.

The Old Royal, Birmingham

Lovely old pub, efficient servive by somewhat strange and agressive barman / manager

Bohemian, Moseley

What should be a busy, vibrant pub at the very heart of Moseley is infact a cheerless, characterless dump with nothing going for it. I would get more pleasure drinking special brew in the bus shelter round the corner. Agree with the previous poster that the manager is always drunk

Malt House, Brindley Place

Recently went on a Sunday afternoon with 5 friends. Most of what we ordered on the menu was not available, one dish didnt arrive at all. The food that did turn up was luke warm and unappetising. Bar service was slow and lacklustre. Will not be going again.

The Prince of Wales, Moseley

Virtually unchanged since I nervously sat in the backroom 25 years ago with my first date at the tender age of 16. I Love this old pub with its wonderful character, great friendly service and a good selection of beers.

Goose At The Fighting Cocks, Moseley

Good old pub, nice atmosphere but, my god, the service is lousy in this place. Its quite normal to be kept waiting 10-15 minutes to get served. Barstaff and management lazy and incompetent.
