The White Hart, Waterloo

The staff don't seem great in here it has to be said.. It's still an ok pub and the beers are good but it could be so much better. It does, however. look much nicer than the picture on this website which must be very old!

The Sun, Clapham

Why don't they OPEN the outside bar on a Friday/Saturday night? It would ease the pressure on the inside bar. Good location and worth a visit for SUnday roast r a burger during the week. The beer range is also good.

The Southwark Tavern, London Bridge

I love this pub and often drop in after work. It's always packed with people standing on the pavement outside but I'm guessing that's because it's POPULAR!! The beer range is great, the loos are mental (worth a look at the ladies - a bit unexpected!) and the staff move as fast as they can - there's only so many of them that can fit behind the bar!!

The Queens Arms, South Kensington

Hard to find but I persevered after a friend told me about this place. Charming pub, great food, great beer and friendly staff. REALLY busy for the size of it and you probably do need to get there early to get a table. Great to know about it if you ever go to the Albert Hall for anything as it's staggering distance away.. And the loos are lovely!

The Railway, Clapham North

My experience couldn't be more different than the last few comments.. When I was there last week I was served by a really friendly girl (blonde hair, specs) who couldn't have been lovelier. There's a guy with dark hair and a beard who's also always really nice.. The manager is grumpy but isn't he just a typical landlord?! It's quite funny really. The beer's great and the food's ok and it's far enough up the high street to not be quite as manic as the pubs nearer the common end..

The Island Queen, Islington

The new landlady's lovely! Good food and good beers.. It's worth getting off of Upper St to search for this place.. It would benefit from a lick of paint but that doesn't really affect the laid back vibe..

The Kings Head, Earls Court

Agree with everyone that this is the best pub in Earl's Court. It's cosy and the staff (and beers) are lovely. The Sunday roast's pretty good. If you ever find yourself in this neck of the woods be sure to bring you map and find it..

The Falcon, Clapham North

The back garden's lovely here - the nicest one I've been to in London which is probably the reason most people go there. The beer choice is massive and the food's good (great burgers). The Sunday roast is getting better and it generally seems to be improving.. Previous comments about the loos are right (though they've had a bit of a lick of paint in the last couple of weeks). You do sometimes have to wait a while to be served on a Friday and Saturday night as it's so busy.

The Eagle, Hoxton

This is my favourite pub! There's a real buzz about it at lunchtimes and after work. The beer range is fab and I've only ever been impressed by the food (which, btw, is not expensive). The staff could smile more but are probably just a bit stressed coz it's so busy sometimes. (The gents loos do stink though!)

The Calf, Clapham

This place has improved so much is the last year it's worth the effort to write this. It's BY FAR the best pub in Clapham. The staff are funny (though were clearly rushed off their feet last night) and the food looked great. Sundays are mental here so you really have to get there early to make sure of a seat and the bloke that does the quiz on a Monday's pretty funny.

The Bull, Islington

The burgers are great and seem genuinely home made! Great beer choices as everyone's already said, chilled out atmosphere during the week though packed like everywhere else on Upper St at weekends.. Sundays are also fab for a good roast.

The Alwyne Castle, Islington

The food's really improved here in the last year. It's still lovely and laid back and a bit off the beaten track from the Upper Street masses. Building work was going on in the loos this week when I was in so, with any luck, they'll be nicer time I go in..
