The Coach and Horses, Dumfries

I can do no more than agree with the previously postd comments. I have left Dumfries for Aberdeen BUT John recognized me immediately. Also yes the Baas is always in good condition

The Fox and Hounds, Houston

I'm with Shropspy in his comments - it is an unusual experience to enter, what could easily be a pub in the home counties in a rural part of Scotland. Beer, food, service all excellent & the food was very good quality.

The Tilted Wig, Aberdeen

Somewhat surpried about the comment posted 15/06/06 - I moved to Aberdeen in May and my experiences are not the same at all. I find the staff friendly,& allowing for the fact that it serves bar meals, the service is not bad. I have to agree that at least one of the staff needed prompting when a barrel of real ale needed changing. Apart from that, as I say, maybe the gentleman hit it on a bad day.

The Cavens Arms, Dumfries

One of the friendliest, best run pubs I've ever come accross. Staff A1, 99.5% customes ditto. As I used to meet the majority of my friends, or should that be fiends?, there, it is the one place I miss having moved from the area. Food was way above average for a pub/ restaurant, ale was always in good condition. The bar staff were ALL well trained in how to recognize a "bad pint" i.e., coming to the end of a barrel. The lines were never allowed to be left between brews.
