The Victory Hotel, West Mersea
Wanted to order food for my family at 6pm on a Sunday in July and was told they had finished serving. Utterly ridiculous and no use to us, thus the 0 rating!

Fantastic little pub. A real gem. Good selection of decent beer. My one minor critisism is that it needs a few more tables and chairs inside.

Went here based on a recomendation, was dissappointed. The Youngs Bitter was not on and the alternative tasted horrible. Pub decor more akin to city types rather than your serious beer drinker.

This is not just a football pub. On a Wednesday evening there is a Blues Jam in the back function room. Always a good selection of musicians and a different guest every week. Well worth the �2 entrance if you like Blues.
Usual Keg beers but they do have Courage Best (Wells) which is just about OK. Found one of the barman to be a bit obnoxious but the others were OK. Sometimes smells of stale cooking fat from the kitchen.
Nice big pub, not scruffy inside but the coloured lights are a bit over the top.
Worth a visit on a Wednesday for the music.

The King Edward VII, Stratford
By far the best Pub in Stratford if rather expensive. Not many good pubs left in the area now. The only other I would frequent is the Black Lion, Plaistow. If you don't mind a multicultured community, and the lack of good pubs, Stratford is not as bad as some on here make out. There are worse places in London with no pubs at all, or ones with a chav fighting clientelle.
