Wish this place was still a pub as it looks as though it would have been a very cosy oldy worldy place to drink in.
Just isn't the same being a pizza express in my view.

This pub used to be a bit of a hole, full of rough people and grotty at best. Since then it closed down (landlord did a runner) and Pizza Express has brought it and turned it into a Pizza Resturant. They have kept alot of the origional period features and kept the character of the 14th century (!) building. Located in the main high street and opposite the loverly Pannier Market, its well worth a visit, even thought its not technically a pub anymore.

According to reports this pub is now a pizza parlour. Such is progress.

The oldest pub in the oldest borough in England.
Opposite Barnstaple's wonderful 150 years old local pannier market, in the high street.
It's a tudor tavern with that lovely dark cosey feel to the place.
They serve food,It has a restaurant upstairs or though i can't comment as i've never eaten there.
What i do love is all it's low cellings & quirckness like to play pool you use sorn off cues cos the walls & pillars are in the places that they are.
