Very smart refurbished large pub with much of it given over to food. Pricey - the all English breakfast cost £9.50. More gastro than pub. Nevertheless there were three real ales including Brock and Armadillo from the local Tring brewery - all served by a nice barmaid. This place probably suits the well-heeled residents of Harpenden and looked to be successful at what it does. Myself, I prefer something a little more earthy.

Mainly another 'eatery' but there is a drinker's area at the main entrance but this seems very cluttered with stools and armchairs. The tring brw they had was okay but as a pub not quite my bag of biscuits.

Totally agree with what the previous rater said. The 'Purity' beer is of good quality. Atmosphere is good. The front bar is a bit on the small side but is well furnished.

One of the best pints in Harpenden at the moment. Three beers from Purity, Tring and Fullers - all in good nick and 3.10 a pint

Pub is very restauranty but the front bar seemed to be drinkers only on my visit - keep that up - with diners in a seperate section/restaurant.

Vast improvement from my last visit. Staff were friendly and efficient.

This place has been closed since February, but will reopen in May after being taken over by Peach Pub Company, so it looks like it will return to being a proper pub again.
