Called in yesterday for a half of Abingdon Bridge and a half of Village Idiot both very nice. Very nice pub, all open plan with a dining area opened up to the rafters and a cozier bar area with large open fireplace. Very nice outside area at the back with quite an ornate long wooden bench which seems to be made from pieces of old farming implements. Arrived just after a group of cyclists had left, who were on a pub crawl, all with tee-shirts proclaiming "Weir for Cumnor Mayor 2014 Campaign".

Great pub - food was tasty and fresh and the staff were very friendly and helpful. However, it was very busy and we only just got a table ni the bar. I would book for a restaurant table next time!

Wow! What a great place...after reading the reviews we thought we would give the White Hart a try and were not disappointed. After a well kept pint of Hook Norton beer, we asked if we could eat - we both had monkfish cheek "scampi" with proper chips and peas from the kitchen garden. It was really delicious and for 14 the dish was great value. The service was charming and the building one in a million. The current owners have got the balance between food and village pub just right - a rarity these days!

What a great place! A friend suggested we meet for a drink at the White Hart - which we did and got a top spot by a lovely open log fire. We were made to feel so welcome (even just for a drink) and the staff were lovely. I had heard it had a good reputation for food so was pleasantly surprised that as a drinker we were made to feel welcome too - restaurants which keep their village pub bars are few and far between and there should be more like the White Hart! We actually booked for dinner the next week after drooling over the menu - it was delicious and the service second to none. To top it off the pub is a historic wonderland dating back to the 15th century - full of beams and flagstones. Can't fault the place!

Primarily a restaurant though it was empty during this mid-afternoon lull. Sharp's Doom Bar was drinkable but then I had the Maldon's 'Simply the Best' which lived up to the name as it was the best pint of the day. I could imagine the place not being particularly hospitable to drinkers during the evening or at busy eating times as even the small 'drinking' area to the left as you went in was being marked up as 'reserved for diners'. Despite the excellent beer it's not really a pub as more a restaurant that sells beer.
