I think that the recent reviews have been spot on and I would recommend popping in for a beer if in the area.

A City institution and excellent for hiding in as it is downstairs and there are plenty of nooks and crannies. Never been much on the Old Wallop after a particularly heavy night on it about 15 years ago but the own brand lager was ok. Really though I go for the ambience.

Wine-bar/ersatz beer-keller comment spot on. I made the mistake of leaving my card behind the bar during a works quiz night - they gave me a key as the tab which should have started alarm bells ringing really. 120 later and I was much wiser. Beer and lager both drinkable although utterly unpronouncable (just point and shout "BEE-EER please" like you've on holiday in Magaluf and you'll get served though) although I couldn't tell you how much either cost.

Strange place in that the barstaff and table-service guy appeared to be wearing dinner suits. Actually, that's probably what my money's been spent on.

This is OK, quite cheery, the supposedly own brand Old Wallop (apparently Courage Directors) is well kept and is fun from a pewter tankard. Not cheap but it is in the city. Not a real pub though - a wine bar done up in imitation beer cellar style like most of the Davy's chain.
