Paid this place a second visit recently - was a lovely experience again. Had a lovely pint od Shepherd Neame Double Stout. Also got alot of attention from a friendly Husky dog.

Declaration of interest first: this is actually my local, but then it is for a reason. The P&H, even more so with it's recent renovation works is a lovely pub, both inside and out. Being a village pub it's obviously of its type and everyone knows each other, but that doesn't stop it being an extremely welcome place to all that pop in. As mentioned in other reviews there most certainly is an eclectic crowd and quirky humour to the place, and this starts with the landlord himself. This works extremely well if you want a place where you feel welcomed, and enjoy chatting to people - you'll be in conversation within minutes. For those that prefer a quiet pint there are areas away from the bar where you won't be disturbed. 9/10 as the pub could do with another beer or two, but this is hardly the fault of the pub itself - they are at the mercy of what is offered by SN

A delightful pub in a lovely village. Very traditional and was impressed with the 'White Star' gueat ale they had on at the time of my visit. also had Thatcher's which kept the missus happy. All in all, a really lovely pub with a quirky interior.

Shepherd Neame pub in yet another nice Kent village. Two beers were there to welcome us from the incessant drizzle that seems to be characterising this English summer - Master Brew & Whitstable Bay. The pub is bigger than it first looks with seating behind the bar in a room with a rooflight. The toilets were particularly nice. I enjoyed the jokes whilst taking care of business. A separate room to the side has a bar billiards table. A nice pub. Although the exterior could do with a bit of a spruce up.

We popped in here whilst walking in the area and were welcomed kindly by the locals and landlord who were most hospitable. On tap were the usual selection of Neame beers, and for me, the champion of lagers, Hrlimann made the day. There is also a nice bar billiards table tucked away which is always worth a game or two. Very pleasant surroundings, we'll definitely be back.
