| I have been going to abv/The R Bar for many years, for almost daily lunches when working in Esher, and fairly regularly since working in London. It was always my favourite bar to go to, the owners and the staff were friendly, welcoming, attentive and geniunely interested in us! The best thing was that they didn't seem to mind that we were slightly (ahem) less sophisticated than the usual Esher crowd! However, I went back, after not having been for a few months, a couple of weeks ago and everything had changed. The place was empty, the staff didn't seem to care if we were there or not and the atmosphere just wasn't right. I don't know what has happened, I have heard they are under new management, whatever it is I am not happy and am now thinking about taking my custom to the Bear. I have given a score of 8 for the sake of posterity, and in the hope that my recent experience was a one off! fizz190 - 27 Feb 2007 13:25 |
| Renamed the R Bar sometime ago now and streets better than ABV. Great atmosphere and different from all the pubs in Esher. Fabulous at the weekend and really busy but still good in the week.
