| This used to be a Marstons pub, and had a bit of a chequered history. Opening and closing several times, and going under a dew different names (one I can remember is Three Lamps). I quite liked the previous incarnation, and used to eat lunch there regularly. It was noticeable however how the number of real ales available gradually crept downwards until it reached zero ! (at which point I stopped going). Anyway, it has now been sold to Amber Taverns who have converted it into a sports bar, which involved completely gutting the interior and installing several large screen TVs. Not as bad as it sounds however, and the beer is certainly cheap. There were 4 real ales available when I visited – all at £1.95 a pint ! I tried the Caledonian Flying Scotsman – which was OK.
