user reviews of Burnaby Arms, Bedford

please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

The Burnaby Arms was the last of our Bedfordshire pubs yesterday. After the poor welcome at the Flower Pot, we were much more warmly welcomed here. It is a corner pub in the back streets of Bedford. It seems very much of a community pub and has plenty of events. They were readying themselves for a 'Dinosaur Disco' whilst we were there. Plenty of bar staff made service quick. The bar itself is L-shaped reflecting its corner location. Ales were Eagle, London Gold, Directors & Sweet Chariot. The most expensive round of the day. But still a fairly decent pub. Parking is difficult.

A sociable, friendly and warm pub. Excellent company in a jovial atmosphere. A limited selection of ales and only a two larger's on tap, but they concentrate on quality over quantity. A hidden gem of a pub, with comfy chairs and off the beaten track and well worth a visit... If you order a Guinness though, you may need to remind them to finish off after they leave it to settle.

Totally transformed from the last time I went in here a good few years ago. Great selection of beers, friendly and welcoming staff. This is the pub that the Black Tom area has missed for a good few years now. Twinned with The Devonshire Arms in Dudley Street, the two pubs complement each other on either side of the town.

And you can still get a game of darts here...!

How can this pub have a rating of 5.5? The beer is of good quality and service efficient.
