user reviews of the Pheasant Inn, Hightown

please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

The Pheasant Inn is a large roadside foodie pub just outside Little Crosby.

Stopped for a family meal on a Saturday afternoon in late September while in the area. Only 1 ale on, which was Caledonian's Autumn Red @ 4.4%. A very good pint. All the usual lagers, Guinness and Aspall's Cider also available.

Nice decor with a flag stone floor at the front of the pub & a wooden floor leading through towards the back.

Half full on our visit. Quick attentive service from our waiter who was a very cheerful chap. The food is modern British with a European feel to the menu. Good food and keenly priced fir the quality and portions size.

More for diners than drinkers but worth a stop for a decent pint and good food.

Reading the previous comments I think there has been a change of management in here (unless I went on a good day). We found the staff friendly and helpful, the beer was in good shape and the food was quite good. The menu was fairly limited but this is a beer website so sod the food!
The only thing that shades this pub is the price, I appreciate its in a rural setting in a nice part of Merseyside, but 4.20 for a pint of beer is disgusting!

Lets start with the positives, the place is pretty and in a nice setting. The waiting on staff are friendly and helpful. The beer is good.
The managers in there are miserable and not fit for purpose, on numerous occassions I have been in there and staff have come out of the kitchen and got changed at the end of the bar, on another occassion I was having lunch there when the chef came out of the kitchen and started rather loudly flirting with a waitress the girl had a cold sore on her lip and another man joined them and they both teased the girl in a sexual way and where talking about her having herpes.
That to me is diabolical behaviour by any standards. I used to visit regular when this place re-opened and the food was great. Now I dont bother. Its a shame with the right management and a decent chef this place would be a gold mine.

Went there for lunch, hard to get a drink as there was hardly any staff on the bar. Food was awful and glasses dirty. On top of this when I complained the management were agressive and had a very poor attitude to customer relations. read reviews of this place before eating there!!
