user reviews of Greens Restaurant and Pub, Wickham

please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

I appreciate this site is called beer in the evening, but as I was not in greens in the evening I had a nice pot of tea which we drank in the intriguing secret garden hidden a short walk down an alleyway through the back door.

I will continue to only write beer reviews in future unless I am on 'teaintheafternoon.com'

Arrived on Friday for a meal with my girlfriend, we tryed to order and were told we would have to wait as the kitchen was busy. I could only see 1 other table!?? When we tryed to order again, we were told that they had sold out of several items. Very disappointed. When the food we ordered did arrive thw fish was over cooked and frankly overpriced for the quality and service. Living in Wickham you have a large choice of restaurants, including 2 Indian restaurants, a Chinese takeaway, 2 pubs including greens, and just outside Wickham the Roebuck and so on... I would advise choosing one of these. Not impressed wont be back. They need to sort out there staffs attitudes.

This place is a breath of fresh air, excellent food, great service and pleasant decor.

Like the nearby Roebuck it is not really a pub. However unlike the Roebuck this place doesn't patronise you if you do want just a drink, and its a lot less pretentious. I'll return very soon.

Very pleasant atmosphere. Good food, friendly and efficient staff.

We decamped here after a nightmare expeience at the awful Roebuck nearby.

You rescued our evening - thanks!

You have to face facts here. it is not a pub at all. You can sit at the very small bar or a comfy sofa nearby but this is a restaurant - a good one, I have never had a meal that wasnt good but you would not come here to drink - go over the road to the recently refurb'd Kings Head (Fullers) which now has a new and welcome lease of life. As a pub this place fails, as a restaurant you will be pushed to find better food.
