| The Crown was the best of four places I visited in this small town. It has recently been refurbished and is under the ownership of Joule's. The ale range here was the best I saw in Staffordshire on this visit. The 4 Joule's ales were Pale Ale, Blonde, Slumbering Monk & Royal Ale. Guests were Brunswick The Usual, Purple Moose Glaslyn Ale, Magpie Jay IPA & Elgood's Black Dog. A 9th handpull was occupied by Lilley's Mango Cider. The surroundings are nice. | Big pub, carpeted, looks very 'chainy' with a vinegary Banks' Bitter. That or Pedigree was the choice. Barbloke did offer to top up the pint if I wasn't happy with the head. I wouldn't rush back, I the Crown and the Codsall Station are much more my type of place. Killian42 - 8 Oct 2010 20:24 |
