Visited this fab pub on Sunday 16th Feb 2015. Absolutely brilliant pub Lovely friendly staff, dead cheap drinks, brilliant atmosphere. Can't wait to visit again soon.

Nothing special but certainly not unfriendly on our visit. My wife wanted a coffee which it appears they do not usually sell but the barmaid went into the back and made her one. Worth an extra point for that alone.

Of all the pubs to end up in in this area of town! It was comical really as my wife felt indisposed and the Saddle Inn seemed to be the only place open with a toilet. As soon as I saw the array of lagers and smoothflows, I knew we'd entered one of those establishments, but there was nothing we could do. The only thing I could consider drinking was the bitter. When my wife appeared, she had a half of the same and said it was nice. I decided to go outside and study the architecture. Much to my chagrin the Hole In The Wall was open next door as was the Lady of Mann. I returned to my pint and told my wife to sup up. I cannot for the life of me understand how such estabishments survive. I suppose they have found their niche, their comparative advantage, but blind me, there must be limits to corporate stupidity.

Ducked out of Ye Hole In Ye Wall and dived into the Saddle. We wished we'd never taken the plunge. 4 handpulls promised much. No pumpclips revealed a complete lack of beer. At least I was ok, as I hadn't had Olde English cider for many a month. No, sadly that wasn't on either. Resorting to Smirnoff Ice's (God help us!), we payed our 6.40 for 2 and wondered off around this barren establishment. A large Bass mirror and several maritime pictures give a hint as to past glories. Bars on the windows are more appropriate for its current condition. Music was playing on the TV, creating a little bit of atmosphere. But I think this would have to be the only pub open within about 50 miles to warrant a return visit.

Of the three staff we encounterd two were very helpful (a young lady and a gentleman) whilst the other (an old blone woman)is probally one of the rudest people I have met. I asked the barman if he wouldnt mind closing the door as all of our party were cold from the draft comming through. He seemed concerned however rude lady refused as "it gets to hot around the bar". despite a fan being unused over the bar. While we and several others sat with our coats on because it was so cold, my girlfriend's unsued glass was taken before she could pour her rose in to it. When i approached this lady to complain I was told "take it back then!". I ordered a Southern comfort with lime and lemonade from the barman and when i took a sip I realised he had put some other spirit in. Everybody makes mistakes and i asked the young lady if she could change it for me and she had no problem with this. However the blonde lady yet again decided to intervene. This time she insisted it could not be replaced as the barman who served me was no longer there to verify my order and my drink did contain souther comfort. I would like to know how she could tell this as she didnt even try the drink. When I insisted that i get what id paid for the helpful young lady obliged. I told the blond that i was not at all happy with her and would not be using this pub again, to which she replied "Well dont i wont loose any sleep" Later on I asked the youg lady who was in charge as I wished to make a formal complaint. I was informed that this blonde is like this to lots of people and was directed to an older man at the door who said he was incharge that night. He seemed to agree with me that this woman had a bad attitude but failed to appologise or take any action while i was there. Mean while i had mentioned to the blonde that i was going to complain. Her response was "i dont care" after which she went bad mouthing me to a member of the public at the bar. Truly awful service and apparently indiferent management. DONT WASTE YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY IN THIS PUB! I WONT
