| Sam Smiths pub on the main York-Wetherby road - local orientated, with hunting memorabilia on the walls, and far enough out of York not to be totally rammed on race days. Serves the usual Sam Smiths staples and little else, but had a decent pint of Ayingerbrau (German kamikaze juice, brewed in Tadcaster!). Good range of food, and the beef and onion baguette I had was very good indeed. Be warned, they don't take plastic at all, but cheques are OK.
