This used to be a great local when Barry Parkin had it. Now it's just another dull pub. Beer is suspiciously flat and thin tasting. Read into that what you like. Poison Dwarf in residence as well. If you don't like the pub trade then don't buy a pub Carol.

Our only pub stop off in this handsome market town of wide streets before taking in The Wedding Present at the nearby Electric Palace, a hugely atmospheric venue. A magnificent skittle alley has unfortunately been covered over by extra seating although this thankfully appeared to be a temporary arrangement while the front bar and garden are a little listless and my pint didn’t go down that smoothly. Punching below its weight.

Julie and I went for Sunday lunch at the Woodman with T.J. and his fiancée Leanne. What happened to Taz? No special gravy, no chicken. The food was not good I'm afraid. Plus there were four guys sat behind us mouthing loud pub talk, ho ho! Telling lewd jokes ho ho. Then to cap it all my hat had fallen of the back of T.Js chair on to the floor. The landlady stopped next to it and said in a loud voice, "Who's is this hat, pick it up before someone trips over it". If T.J. and Leanne weren't there I would have done an instant walkout. Needless to say never again.

Like the pub and the customers but that landlady makes sure we all know she hates the job!

Visited this pub recently. Felt very at home. Landlord and landlady were very jolly and fun. Had a lovely meal from their homecooked range. Even managed a dessert. Will definately be going back.
