Called in here for the first time last night. It's a proper locals pub with darts, pool and last night they had two tables set up for the dominoes league match against the nearby Cross Foxes. Its now a one roomed pub that obviously used to be two but its been opened out at some stage. There are pictures of whales and dolphins around the walls which is unusual. Over the mirror in the gents theres a sign that says Looking Good Nice. Its a little shabby both inside and out but that just adds to the character in this case. Three handpumps selling Worthington bitter, Ruddles County and M&B Mild. I had a pint of the mild, it was the best pint of M&B mild Ive had in ages, maybe ever!! I got talking to the landlord and a couple of the regulars almost before Id had a taste of my pint. There are load of characters in here and the banter was very amusing. As I was leaving I thanked the landlady for the excellent pint and a number of the locals called out to me to say goodbye, even though Id been in less than 30 minutes. I think Im going to have to call back next time Im in this part of Shrewsbury. What a contrast to the Boars Head just up the road. Thanks guys.
