Ale well kept. Food portions at lunch were generous and hearty. Landlord friendly and welcoming. Good local crowd socialising when we visited. Good to see it surviving.

Not closed any more. My favourite pub locally serving good, proper pub grub, not overpriced. If you have the pie option the portion you get is huge!!! Beer is good and well kept. Hughen and Joyce well known in the area having run a few pubs locally.

Its all down to personal preference as i enjoy this pub, it is near to Ford with some beautiful nearby walks. Parking and space is a little limited but the food is good, not overly priced and the staff have always been pleasent the many times i have been there. i particularly enijoy there home made honeycomb cheesecake

What could be a lovely country pub isn't. The building is an old forge just outside Salisbury in pleasant contryside well off the main road, has a large garden and large traditional bars. It used to be, many years ago, a great local but in the last five years has become just another run-down business on the point of failure. The staff are unfriendly to the point of rudeness, they don't keep their beer that well and the food is overpriced for what it is - pub grub with an attitude. On my last visit I was presented with a Ringwood Past-its-Best.

It really isn't worth the walk/cycle from Salisbury, and if your in a car, carry on to the Winterbourne Arms or the Earl of Normanton.
