I could complain about the service, but they're under-staffed at the moment -- any qualified jobseekers in the area would be doing us all a favour if they helped this place out.

Food as has been noted is good, they no longer serve sauces in sachets! Doom Bar and Lond. Pride are typically on with a guest ale, often quite interesting. Interestingly royalist decor, lots of coronation memorabilia.

Family friendly, which may as well be a negative point from most visitors' perspectives, as there is also a fenced off area in the garden with a few pets (rabbits, guinea pigs, chickens) that children, I presume, are encouraged to interact with. Not that the pets seemed enthusiastic, and both pets and children are left unsupervised. Perhaps an issue with the clientele rather than the staff -- again, understaffed, and pubs don't generally include childminding in their services. Frankly you'd have to leave tips if they did. Friendly though.

This is a charming pub in an equally charming village on the foot of the North Downs and some great walking country. The Doombar I had was fine and service pleasant. The interior of the pub and garden were both pleasing.

The Honest Miller is without a doubt one of the best pub restaurants my girlfriend and I have been to in some time. The locals are friendly, and always talkative when at the bar, the family running the joint are also very warm and welcoming. The food, like the rest of the quiet pub, is outstanding. I usually have a steak, my girlfriend BBQ ribs, both our choices, in our opinion, are the best of any restaurant in the Ashford area. And we eat out a lot! The prices aren't too bad either. The beers on offer range from the common to the less so, with ale from Cornwall and other areas from further a field. Overall this a very friendly, good quality local, welcoming outsiders with open arms

Having recently moved to the area, my husband and I saw the positive reviews for this pub and decided to go and check it out. It lives up to them, really friendly atmosphere, great landlord and landlady

We'll definitely return!

Another place that I have been to in the past but not for a number of years. I can't say that it sticks in the memory as an outstanding pub so I was encouraged by the recent comments on here -particulary MankyBadger's which I usually find to be pretty reliable :-).
Vistited on Bank holiday monday and I find myself agreeing with pretty much everything the last couple of reviewers have said. The landlord is a very pleasant Geordie chap and made us feel extremely welcome. Beer was excellent - Doom Bar being on of my favourite ales. The others were London Pride and something called Tit for Tat. I stuck with the Doom Bar on this visit. Food from the bar snacks part of the menu was excellent although as others have noticed, was a little slow in arriving. That's a very minor grumble though as I'm more than happy to wait for food of this quality. Everything was excellent and very well presented. Again a minor gripe but why do pubs that take such obvious pride in their food insist on serving sauces in those awful little sachets? I guess it's just one of those things that bugs me - perhaps I'm just getting old :-)
The main meals on other tables looked awesome and the service was polite throughout. On the way out, the landlady (I guess) was keen to know if everything was ok - we assured her we would be back !
A great pub - highly recommended.
