visited this pub whilst on holiday (march 2013) the pub changed hands in 2011 so other reviews can be disregarded, this is a well run and very welcoming pub,a good selection of ales including black sheep and DOOM BAR very friendly staff and the food is excellent, locals also very friendly give it a visit you won`t be disapointed!

We visited on a Sunday afternoon with a large party. The service was very slow, there was only one veggie meal on the menu (veg and brie tart). Two of the party ordered it but it was very poor, it was the size of a small starter and was totally flavourless yet it cost 10! We very poitely took this up with the manager and she was rude and ignorant walking away mid conversation and refusing to discuss the cost with us. Whilst we were there a couple left after waiting 30 mins to be served, she shouted after them 'well it's your loss' I wouldn't ever eat there again - she lets the place down badly !

Roadside pub on the road between Arnside and Milnthorpe. The pub is typical of a rural tourist-oriented Lakeland pub in that there is an emphasis on food and a limited choice of real ales- Black Sheep and Theakston's Bitter on my visit. I tried the former which was in excellent condition. The pub itself is pretty unremarkable- narrow and with many tables reserved for dining. However, the views from the front over the Kent Estuary and the mountains beyond are brilliant- best enjoyed with a Black Sheep! Didn't try any food but it looked good. Not a bad pub in all.
