user reviews of the Gauntlet, Kenilworth

please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

Just moved over the road to The Gauntlet and after reading the reviews on here I wasn't in a hurry to visit. Oh how I was wrong! For a cold wet January lunchtime the were around 15 people in. The were 4 pumps all in use and I drunk a couple of 'Blonde Bombshells' I think they are Robinsons. The menu was excellent. I had a very nice and good value Steak. Recommend highly for food and drink. Having friends with kids this place offers a pub which is kid friendly at all times not just for food.

I was up this end of Kenilworth so felt I should go in for a pint. The only ale on was G.K. I.P.A. so I had a pint of it. It wasn't bad at 2.10 and as with last visit was well served. Good local pub full of 8 friendly but not in your face locals. Has been cleaned up inside. All in all this is one of those important community pubs which is as important to the locals as the post office and corner shop.

This place plays an important roll in this area of kenilworth. Its in the middle of an estate. The are nearly all the shops you will ever need close at hand. Pubs are meeting places. The Gauntlet is I would say 1950's. It is in need of a refurb but at the same point the place still feels loved and when I walked in not one person stopped to look at me. I was served quickly and the bar maid was happy with a smile on her face. The beers Ruddles Best and Youngs Bitter although not inspirational were good and well served. All in all I can't give a low mark for this place as everything was good if not great. 7/10
