please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

Decent little all rounder. Food is good and reasonably priced. Perfect for lunch and early evening eating. Staff are friendly enough to make you feel welcome but not all over you while you eat. Not sure about its potential in the evening as it seems a little 'yummy mummy' orientated (plenty of prams at lunch-time).
But if you can get past the ocassional child's wail, you'll get one of the better eating experiences in the area

The bar is a relaxing place, although the drinks are pricey - 12 quid for a Guinness and a glass of shiraz! Mel's Bar displays the 'Cask Marque', but I was disappointed to find that the only 'ale' they had was 'Spindrift' - a slightly fizzy keg offering from Adnams.

The meal was tasty and good value as we took advantage of their offer of two courses for a tenner.

Sadly, a damper was put of our evening when the rather brusque duty manager informed us just before 1030pm that they would be closing early because there weren't many people in! Despite two of our group trying their best to persuade him to put customer service ahead of his desire to slope off, he had made up his mind. We left in disgust and vowed not to return.

A good effort - but I see no reason why you had to change it from the open page.

Hi Mel.

Not that good in Mel's really - Open Page was much better. 'The works' that the reviewer below bangs on about ends up costing about 30 quid for two by the time you've had a coffee or whatever - a little OTT for SW18.

Asked for a pint of Spindrift. 'Ohh are you sure that's an ale you know'. Resisted the temptation to tip it over the numpty's head.

4/10 overall, would be a 2 but the garden is quite nice.

What a refreshing change! A lovely bar with amazing staff! It's so great that a bar like this has opened in earlsfied - tapping into the young mum / young professional customer genre - fantatsic wines - i recommend the pinotage or the devils corner! The food is fabullous - it's too hard to choose what to get as everything is soooo good (and very reasonably priced!) At the weekend they do at brunch menu - the "works" is massive and amazing ... if you can finish it i'll buy you a beer!

The staff are great - especially Mel herself - you get served by her and you feel really special - it's like being served by one of your best friends in your own living room, you feel at home, comfortable and its obvious the food is going to be as good as the service (and it is!)

Fingers crossed Mel's lasts as it is by far he best bar in Earlsfied!
