user reviews of the Bears Paw, Frodsham

please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

I don't feel the low rating is fair. This is a 6 to 7 pub for sure. Good beer, and a choice. Very well priced pub food, which is available until 9pm in the week. Decor is old pub style and well worn, but not too shabby. I visit every few months and have never found any problems with the locals being rowdy, but my visits are always mid week. It is a welcoming pub too. Surpassed only by the Helter Skelter, just up the road, for its range of beers.

one of the better pubs in frodsham with good ale and cider and the food is not bad either, plenty of space at the back for the sunny days, also has a no smoking part of the garden, but yes it does get very bussy at times.

Located at Frodsham's main intersection and as Heatonian observed, it has a nice exterior. Parking is at the rear. The 1 fee is refunded when you buy a round. The interior was relatively pleasant, but the locals were already gearing up for a noisy weekend on the Friday afternoon when we visited. Harviestoun Natural Blonde, Deuchars IPA, Taylor Landlord and Black Sheep Best were the real ales on offer.

The interior doesn't really live up to the very attractive sandstone exterior. Has recently (June 2009) introduced pay and display parking.

Looking at Frodsham you wouldn't think it would be a chavvy mess on a Saturday night, but it is, especially in Summer. This place tends to get them all in (and outside). Having said that the beer range and quality have been improved over the last couple of years. Not a place for the faint hearted at weekends.
