Had a nondescript pint of Cumberland Ale here on Saturday whilst sitting on one of the sun-drenched benches outside the front door breathing in the fumes from the passing cars.

Jennings outlet, so no surprises with the ale. Best Bitter, Cocker Hoop, Cumberland Ale and Snecklifter and all in fine form. Friendly staff. Didn't eat here but food looked good and the menu seemed interesting.

Good local pub with a yearning to be the gourmet's choice.

Found it a bit strange being served by a waiter all done up in shirt and creased trousers, seventies long hair do. Having said that the food was excellent and there was loads of it.

Decent beer.

Traditional town pub serving full range of Jennings ales. Generous helpings of pub grub. Fish'n'chips and sausage'n'mash both top notch. They also do a great selection of scones at teatime.

For me the whole experience was spoiled by the 60s and 70s oldies relentlessly blasting out of the loudspeakers. "Silence is golden," as The Tremeloes once crooned.

Popped in with my wife while waiting for a bus and had an exwcellent pint of Sneck Lifter. Like the previous reviewer would have stayed longer if I could. A really nice and friendly, traditional pub.
