I'd echo the previous poster. This is not a pub anymore, it is a restaurant/cafe all the way through. No real ale on wicket, all tables set for food, and not conducive to just having a drink. We had a meal, which was generally ok and arrived quite quickly. Service was friendly, and the place was very busy so looks popular with people driving in. But after eating we didn't fancy another drink here and quickly moved on to the Blue Bell in nearby Old Ellerby, which still functions as a proper pub (sadly unlike the Railway).

Bland, bland, bland. Pub has been taken over by dining facilities and every table is already set with cutlery and condiments. There is also a restaurant attached to it so I don't really see the need to have the pub laid out as one too. If we hadn't been eating I would have felt very uncomfortable sitting at a table set for a meal with just a drink in front of me. You can serve bar meals and bring cutlery with the meal. Food was good and large portions but absolutely no atmosphere in the place at all, most customers seemed to just eat their meal and then leave, as indeed we did. There just was no encouragement to stay for a drink afterwards. My rating reflects the fact that the place is certainly more of a restaurant than a pub rather than that the place is bad, it isn't bad, just not a nice 'pub'.
