really not very nice. went in to watch some football and it was full of smelly man-children. cheap beer and newcastle brown ale helps but the shifty manager/owner doesnt. heard he might of gone so maybe it'll be useable eventually

My least favourite pub in the area. Little or no atmosphere except for the live music on a thursdays. Boring pub which feels cold and unloved.

Phil, the manager of the Walpole Arms is the most unprofessional, egomaniac I have ever known. He booked our band well in advance of the gig date (19th July 2008). We turned up having come up from as far as Gravesend. Phil wasn't there but the doorman/duty manager was and had no idea we were booked. He phoned this Phil, who insisted he cancelled us (which he didn't) then went on to ask what music we played and how much we charged and denied ever booking us! A terrible manager with no social skills! Shame as he would have lost out on a lot of beer money as we had a big crowd coming down. (When we got there, there was about 4 people in the pub).
