user reviews of Joiners Arms, Morpeth

please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

This is a classic town pub not far from the pedestrian footbridge over the river. It's a single room house with some rather interesting stuffed birds in glass cases above the bar. Staff were all male and all but one of the customers were also male. This is a distinctly male-dominated space. But being a male, that didn't concern me too much! Mordue A'L Cherry Pet, Caledonian Deuchars IPA, Black Sheep Best Bitter & Golden Sheep & Jennings Cumberland Ale were all on. The real cider was Westons Bounds Scrumpy. Worth a visit.

An excellent pub with a decent choice of well served beers - a good atmosphere in the pub and a friendly welcome. Unfortunately when I went there last night I must have had the misfortune to sit next to a meeting of the Morpeth branch of the BNP. I stopped for one pint because I did not want to hear a load of racist opinions from one block (who was clearly a regular) and his mates. Apart from this an excellent pub which I would visit again.

An absolute pleasure to cross the other side of the bridge from the Town centre.

6 real ales - the 4 I tried were outstandingly kept, friendly locals. A shame when I had to leave
