user reviews of the George Inn, Ashley

please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

Visited as part of the Welland Valley Beer Festival, so difficult to know what it is like normally, but a place that seemed a good place to drink.
The pub is set in a nice village location, and on this occasion, they had a marquee set up in the car park with a great looking hog roast on offer.
Great beers on offer, including a fantastic stout from local brewery, Langtons.
Whilst not really anything to do with the pub, one of the locals should be greatly thanked. - Whilst waiting for a bus which did not turn up for over one hour, your offer of a bottle of Jamesons, shared with the queue, was greatly appreciated.
Thank you, and hopefully one day, you will read this !!.
This is a nice pub which must be worth a visit should you be in the area.

Welcoming pub in a really pretty village in the Welland Valley. Locals and staff were friendly. The small room is split into two with locals playing dominos in the small bar area, whilst a small lounge was made out for diners who seemed to be in short supply. Beers were Morland Old Speckled Hen, Oakham JHB & Langton Woodsman. Recommended.

The George at Ashley is a grade II listed building, built in 1745 as a coaching Inn on the old Leicester road, in the picturesque historic village of Ashley.
Nestling in the heart of the Welland valley, very little has changed in 260 years or so, especially the well kept tradition of offering a warm welcome and serving quality country food and traditional English Ales.
