user reviews of the William IV, Alrewas

please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

A large 19th century, white rendered, Marstons pub, looked like a former farmhouse, with dormer windows. It looks neat.

The interior is open plan, with plain white and red walls, arty pictures tempered with some nice photos and other stuff. Has a fake brick fireplace and a fakey beam look. It had perimeter seating and a dart board. It was clean, had friendly service and was family friendly. The clientele was mixed.

Beer; ; usual tap stuff, with Pedigree on handpull (the other handpull wasnt used). Ped was nice.

I liked this place. It did food, but we didnt eat. The mix of modern and traditional works enough for me. I would return.

since it changed hands it's lost the atmosphere it once had. The food is nicer now but much more expensive, the beers still good, if not better than it was before but it just feels very sterile in there now. If only the food and beer was this good before!

Good food well priced, however the beer is pricey and i have trouble with the Guinness the next morning. Thankfully they always have at least one guest ale on to guide me away from Guinness. Most lively pub in the 'was and it deserves to be!

Spitting William IV was the son of mad King George III and more importantly namesake of this fine pub. The beer is excellent and the guest beers change regularly. Mixed bunch at the bar and packed on a weekend - but never any trouble.
