Pleasant, cosy and respectable pub with a friendly landlord and decent beer. The walls of the Gents are festooned with cuttings consisting of jokes.

I have been eating there fairly frequently for years and it is a lovely pub that doesn't claim to be anything but what it is - a friendly, local style, traditional pub with excellent, freshly cooked food. Interesting fresh food, that is, not gastro pub food with gastronomical prices. Well worth a visit but don't expect a trendy club type atmosphere because it definitely ain't that. My mum loves it, my kids love it and the friends that we have taken there love it too.

After reading the reviews for this pub I was a bit hesitant about meeting my friend for a meal there. Can't believe how wrong the reviews were!!! The pub is old, and yes a bit dated, but it has more charm and character than most the pubs in town. The staff were so friendly and welcoming and the food we had was great. We stayed on to do their weekly quiz and came away with a bottle of wine so even better. My advice: Give it a try!

I would strongly advise not to eat at this pub. Myself and my wife went out for food and she ordered the fish. It wasn't cook. She mentioned this and the Same fish was reheated. They still wanted us to pay. Worst place for food have ever been. Want to eat? Stay home and have a pot noodle.

I'm slightly surprised at the prevoius comments. Ok, its not fantastic and I probably won't walk out of town to go there again, but it's not THAT bad!!
