Yes, all change for the old drinking shed at Ramsholt Dock. Newish expensive cars with personal plates in the Staff Car Park make me fear the worst. This pub has a lot going for it, but somehow it doesn't feel right. There is a great river view, plenty of out door seating and the interior has been smartened up in a minimalist way. Alas, the accent is on aspirational Gastro Dining, which seems common in these parts, and the simple pleasure of a reasonably priced beer consigned to history.
The new owners need to take a hard look at the way their staff present themselves, an extremely young crew with and to me the barman seemed far too casual, so much so that as a customer I felt somewhat uneasy being charged £3.45 for Adnams Bitter.

That said if you like the Gastro experience, you will not be disappointed as the standard of cuisine is excellent, but in my opinion somewhat poor value. Date of visit 21/7/2014

We went to this pub a few years ago and never went there. Having heard it had been take over in April 2013 and had a completely refurbished Landlord and Landlady, we thought we would try again. The wine was brilliant, all home brewed plus the crisps selection was outstanding, I cannot think of another pub.

On tap was Green King IPA which is changed every month. There is a car park around the back of the pub and also a nice broken glass area for kids. The car park was very busy with doggers when we arrived so it would be worth booking in advance, call first.

We cannot recommend this pub or new Landlord and Landlady for what they have achieved. Service was a very slow but it is to be expected.

Has been closed lately, but I understand has recently been taken over by new landlord who is busy refurbishing for the summer season. Hope they don't refurbish too keenly - there are too many look-a-like gastro-pubs spreading through East Anglia, more interested in winning Michelin stars than being good atmospheric drinkers' haunts.

Pub is indeed in a great location. Local bitter was ropey (hoppy and extremely bitter) but at least a bit different, however food was bog-standard pub grub - chips with everything, dull salad with sweet dressing, supermarket grade coleslaw. Perfectly fine if you're paying 5 for a main, but not for 10+. There seemed to be a hundred things on the menu, so maybe if they had fewer dishes comprising better quality, locally-sourced ingredients these prices could be justified, like in some of those nice pubs in Highgate and Hampstead.

View from the pub is one of the best (river scenery). Clean and well kept - you could take granny here. Beer pricey - you pay for the view. Food - Main course around the 10 mark. We had Fish & Chips - excellent -fast service (pub was quiet/off season) - service fine. From the number of tables must sometimes get very busy. Will definitely visit again.
