The refit makes this pub look so much better staff are friendly too.
There is plenty of space to sit outside in the summer too

Comfortable and friendly pub with well kept ale etc. First impressions were that the restaurant dominated things a bit but when we had our excellent Italian-themed meal we understood why. All in all there was a good balance between pub and restaurant - what we used to call an inn, I think.

A restaurant that thinks it's a pub. Don't be put off by that remark, it gives it a damn good shot.
Two real ales, the usual lagers, ciders and spirits etc. 'London Pride' is not my favourite beer by a long shot, but I had a pint and a half which I enjoyed.
There were locals drinking at the bar, looking entirely at home, but you do have to eat in the restaurant.
The food is expensive, no doubt about that. But, in my experience, well worth it. Superb is the word that comes to mind. Try the lasagne if you don't believe me.
My rating? 9. Based simply on the fact that it was one of my most enjoyable experiences in years of drinking and eating in pubs.
You need to watch your pennyies, pass it up, but you could be missing something just a bit special.

The change of ownership has been for the better. The beer is good, the food is mostly excellent. Well worth a trip. It is usually busy, which is often a good indicator.

Recently reopened under new management after an extensive refubishment. My childhood local and near to where my parents still live. Now serves top-quality Italian food with a great wine list. Well worth driving too but book first as weekends especially can be full.
