user reviews of Colton mill, Colton

please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

Although I was the very first person to be served in the Colton Mill on the day it opened, I never went in again until Wednesday 10th March 2010. I had a couple of drink's with my wife. I found it very relaxing and the staff were pleasant and polite.

I decided to try a meal in the pub and went in again on Saturday 13th March, whilst having a drink prior to my meal, I noticed a torn, stained seat, torn lampshades and stains on the wall. A family on the next table knocked over a pint glass of cola, although they went to the bar and reported the spillage, it was not cleaned up by the staff.

The meal was poor, I ordered a spit roast chicken, which was served with chips and a small piece of sweet corn, not much to it.

My wife ordered a cheese burger, again served with chips, it was absolutely tasteless, a bit like the ones that can be purchased at cheap frozen food shop's.

My wife only had one bite and left the rest, the waitress was very good and reported the fact to her manager, and the cost was deducted from the bill without any fuss.

I will certainly have a drink again in the Colton Mill, but for eating it is definitely a no, no.

The area has been crying out for a new pub for years. Sadly this isn't it. Its a fake pub that is designed to sell food. It has a bar area roughly the size of a towel and a food area the size of the Roman Empire.
