Now stating it has French cuisine and a Thai banquet menu. Seems very quiet and maybe the menu isn't working and it should stick with a rustic English one. Anyway on the real ale front there was 4 beers with Barnsley bitter being the one of choice and very tasty.

Range of real ales reduced (Black Sheep Best and Taylors Golden Best only) and soft drinks are very expensive (2.15 for a lemonade!) Quality OK though

I visited the Butchers Arms with high expextions, having been told it was on a par with the likes of the Three Acres and the Farmers Boy. However it wasnt it was very poor. The service we recieved from the staff was slack and the food badly cooked. We complained and got the arrogant chef come and visit us to find out what the problem was. The complaint wasnt handled well and has put me off going back and wouldnt reccomend to anyone. It was very expensive so would have expected to the meal to be perfect but unfortunatly it was far from.

This pub has been the victim of several dire landlords. However, the good news is the current landlord/chef has breathed new life into it. New decor, open fires, flag floors and excellent restaurant (Yorkshire Chef of the Year 2009). A good range of beers and wines. Downsides are expensive food and beer and no decent crisps or nuts.

Since the pub changed ownership in 2007, it has gone down hill rapidly and is now a shadow of its former self. Dirty tables/interior, expensive beer (3.35 for Guinness and 3.00 for Landlord) limited range of beer plus expensive and 'lack lustre' food means that there is nothing to go there for. In fact it is nearly always empty -- Mondays now closed, Sunday closing at 10.00pm. No more live music, fun people or customers A SAD PUB run by SAD PEOPLE.
