This large hotel & pub is close to Windermere station and appears in both the 2014 and 2015 GBG.

After a short bus ride from Bowness and a walk around Windermere I dragged the wife into here for a pit stop.

5 ales on offer with all but 1 of them from the local area. I went for a pint of Heskett Newmarket Breweries Red Pike @ 3.8%.

Food was being served but I didn't see any of it.

Decent decor, clean toilets, a large garden and smoking area, friendly bar maid and if there were more punters in I could of also commented on the atmosphere.

A decent pit stop, off to Staveley now.

A bit of a mix of hotel, food and bar but it does kind of work and the beer was good enough. Probably best place for a pint close to the station.

Sat here now. Seems a nice pub. Popped in on a rainy day for lunch - a good choice on their Lunch for 5 menu, the two dishes we chose quite nice. 5 real ales on to choose from. Jennings Little Gem going down well. Relaxed atmosphere; pleasant mix of music at a good level for private converation, but not too loud; big plasma telly in the corner on mute showing news with subtitles - terrible news about Jimmy Saville, not that that's anything to do with the pub. One to remember if I return to Windemere.

Really lovely pub, all the furnishings are great quality and the place was so clean. It had baby changing facilities and a great kids menu. The food was brilliant with decent sized portions and we didnjt have to wait long at all. Would highly recommend :-)

Decent pint of Tetley's with a good range of non-veggie "home-cooked" food, which we enjoyed.

Also had Dent's Rambrau on as guest beer.

And the Campaign for Real Lemonade approved of their ''brew" and that they left the curly straws out for her to choose from.:
