Busy pub on Derbys ring road. Unfortunately, some of the clientele let the place down. Popular with families for cheap meals.

This evening me and my partner came out to yourselves for a meal,we had a carvey inwhich im dissapointed to say was not the best we have had for a long time.some of the veg was soggy ie the cauliflower cheese, sweetcorn slightly on the hard side the roast potatoes were burnt and the beef was dry.also the yorkshire puddings were extreamlry hard and so were the stuffing balls could of played golf with them to be fair.we got asked at the end if we enjoyed our meal and the young lady behind the bar nearly served us dirty glassses inwhich had to ask to wash.the only thing we enjoyed was the gammon service not great either feel rushed to eat dinner as you can park their for 2 hours and have to pay.shame as my partner used to enjoy coming here yet sadly and unfortunatly we wont be comming here again.Think this pub could do so much better if alot more thorght went into it all in all.

steve2905 sums it up. Not bad cavery for 3.50 during the week.

Alledgedly "cask ale coming soon" according to the poster outside. When I asked the staff they didn't have a clue what cask ale was and pointed to the nitro keg Pedi. Pedi doesn't have bubbles in it normally!

The Blue Peter is one of three almost identical Art-Deco style pubs built on the outskirts Derby in the mid 1930s by the long forgotten local brewers, Offilers.

Now trading under the M&B Pub & Carvery brand, the accent is definitely on the carvery element, which is basically a cheap and cheerful, but downmarket version of the Toby carvery, but at only 3.50 per head Monday to Saturday and a fiver on Sundays, it is even better value. No complaints about the food or the staff, but as a pub, forget it, unless you happen to have an addiction to nitro keg brands. Sadly there isnt any real ale in sight.

In summary, food OK and good vfm, but the beer is crap. 6/10.

What a transformation! From backstreet boozer to a family dining experience! Gone are the TV's, the pool table and the lager louts. In are relaxed surroundings, great value food and a nice place to be.
The carvery is wonderful value at 2.99 - 3.99 during the week and the staff friendly and helpful. Definitely worth a look!
