| Recent trip to Amsterdam and luckily this diamond was 5 minutes walk from hotel. Traditional old school continental bar, boasting over 100 beers with a blackboard proudly informing what's on. I tried the extra stout by Dutch craft brewers, Jopel, and was eagerly sunk at 5.5%. I then asked the young friendly barman, and he recommended the Russian Imperial Stout by Emelisse, which is not for the faint hearted - a whopping 11%! Full bodied, but with the stregth being so potent, you do tend to lose the falvours, nethertheless - it certainly packs a punch! | A word of warning - both Caf� Gollem and Biercaf� Gollem were displaying notices in the window on my visit on 14/02/2011 stating that they had closed, but that Gollem�s Proeflokaal (Overtoom 160-162, Amsterdam) was still open and serving beers. As such, I didn't get to try these places out, which is a shame. I didn't get to try Gollem's Proeflokaal as it was a little further out. t0sh - 17 Feb 2011 12:33 |
| A second cafe (bar) run and owned by the same people as the original Cafe Gollem, (already in BITE, closer to city centre). Again has over 200 beers on offer, mostly of Dutch, Belgian and German origin. A pleasant, easy going place to drink, with more room that the other cafe, so more chance of grabbing a seat. alistair_cross - 18 Jan 2006 10:49 |
