Open at 11am for a drink, which was good news. But bring your money - £4.85 for Timothy Taylor Landlord.

Nice country pub but nothing to justify the costs.

Wouldn't bother with this Chatsworth branded pub unless you have a Range Rover, a braying laugh and kids called Cressida and Ptolemy. Food looked okay on the Sunday lunchtime when we called in but we only wanted a drink and got the distinct impression we were in the way.

Decent country pub on the edge of the Chatsworth Estate, with a fine range of local ales although I called in here over Christmas for the first time in a few years and was disappointed to find it has lost a little of its previous character. As others have commented, the proprietors are doing more to attract diners than to attract drinkers these days, and when they can knock out a burger and chips from their snack menu and charge 13 then I suppose that is no real surprise. So if you are just in for the beer, you might quickly start to feel like you are drinking in a restaurant.

More of a restaurant than a pub. OK in the summer when when you can sit outside, but inside they seem to prefer diners to drinkers, particularly some of the tip chasing staff. Food good but pricey. Service is often very slow.

The 'Devonshire Arms' is a pub I've known, on and off, for a long time, I expect a lot from it. Great beer whose quality in matched by the food. In the past the atmosphere and the staff have been great. It's all still there, sort of.
The beer is unchanged, good choice, outstanding quality, but they don't want you at the bar. The food is still very good, if very pricey. 11.95 for a beefburger and fries is bloody expensive, know matter how good it is. Then again, good doesn't come close to describing it.
The staff are still friendly and helpful, but more in the style of restaurant than pub. Nonetheless, they will sill enjoy a laugh and a joke with you.
The pub itself used to be a quirky place, dark and smokey, more from dim lights and open fires than tobacco, all nooks and crannies, comfortable.
Now all is modern lightness, colour and stripes, somehow all the rough edges have been smoothed over. You will either like it or you will not. I do not........
My rating 8. A great place for beer if you can stand at the bar. A great place for food, if you can, or will, afford it, but no longer such a great place to enjoy it all in.
