Had a "to let" sign a little while ago, then more recently a sign offering the freehold for sale. Sign has gone and the pub is still open - let's hope it survives and isn't converted into flats, like so many others

A smallish, single-room pub located on the main road between Redfield and St. George. There are exposed stone built walls which are unusual in a city pub, you could almost imagine yourself being in a cosy country inn, and this feeling continues with the beamed ceiling, although this was in a state of disrepair in places having been patched up with board. The floor too was in need of attention, being an untidy hotchpotch of old tiles, lino and carpet. Overall though, the place has got a pleasant ambience and I quite liked it.

Theres a pool table off to the left, and very limited seating. A few stools and a couple of tables dotted about here and there, but overall this seems to be a pub for standing, unless they dont get too many punters in. It was certainly very quiet when we arrived just before closing time on Saturday, with just one other punter in there. The two ladies running it seemed friendly.

The solitary beer offering was Bass, and although Im not an expert, this seemed a little tired. Ciders were Blackthorn and Natch.

Very nice and friendly pub, very friendly bar maids, nice pint, always someone at the bar to chat to. Pub could definately do with a spruce up, lick of paint and a new carpet but i supposed that makes a local pub, locals dont like too much change do they.. maybe just a lick of paint! Overall though, a lovely place, id definately go back!

Definitely the local piss-heads pub after the Redfield but friendly drunks! Good Guinness and OK Courage when I was in. Big screen sport rules here but they let you bring food in which is pleasant. One for escaping the missus.
