Ember Inns pub. I could only see 5 ales on. But my attention was drawn to the real cider that they have apparently just started selling - Rosie's Pig. The 5 ales were Brakspear Bitter, Robinsons Trooper, Butcombe Bitter, Wells Bombardier Glorious English & Haresfoot Wild Boy. The place is fairly soulless and is more of a dining place than a pub. Its situation on a shopping development in a residential area does not help. But it does appear to be frequented by some local drinkers.

The Pub is now under new management, There are 5 real ales, with another 5 being added before the end of the December 2014. The food is of a much higher standard and the pub is now in the Good Beer guide, Also won Pub of the Season for Spring.

Must agree with Peter Warlock. Food is not good. Often greasy fingerprints on the plates. Have had two meals there where the food was still frozen due to incorrect microwave settings.
Door to smoking area is faulty and slams shut with an almighty "BANG" although many have complained to non avail, as staff seem to ignore it.
Often have to queue at the bar to get served a drink.
Hopefully a change of management can put things right, but there is no sign of it at present.
It has been my local for many years, but i've given up on it now, until i hear better things from those die hards that are still prepared to put up with it.

The previous reviewer must have caught the place on a rare good day. We had to endure two pints of sour badly-kept Hancock's beer and two steaks which we'd still have been chewing now if we hadn't left them. And stone-cold under-cooked oven chips. Never again. It wasn't cheap either.

An Ember Inn that still attracts large number of locals, yet manages to provide relaxed dining area for passing trade. Staff very helpful and welcoming
