Wouldn't bother too much with this place.Stinks of dogs and the landlord came across as the most miserable bloke you could meet.Loads of weirdos in the place, cross dressers etc.

upon my visit to this pub i was greeted with a choice of 3 hand pulled ales and 1 hand pulled cider,
The choices were
WANTSUM - TURBULENT PRIEST 4.4% ABV
ALES OF THE ROUND TABLE - GUINEVERE GOFFS - 4.1% ABV
SHARDLO - CAVENDISH BRIDGE -4.5% ABV
a nice choice plus a hand drawn cider.
Unfortunatly all beers drawn were cloudy and lacking in the full taste experience, The Cavendish bridge was so unpalitable that i left it on the bar when i departed.
I live in this area and have tried this pub from time to time to see if it has improved. unfortunaty it does not.
I would recommend the "will adams"( medway p.o.t.y.) as an alternative.( 2 minute walk away)
On the plus side the dog does have a good jukebox and big T.V. screen plus a decent food menu.
HIT OR MISS - Miss but try at own risk

Does have a different and better beer choice to the 'standard' Admiral Tavern chain (this is a freehouse) but you may have to tell them when a beer isn't right or 'gone'. Not personally happy about a slobbery dog in a place which does food, regardless of how friendly it is. Locals reasonably friendly, for a very basic chat!!

I read some reports here so we tried the pub, also because we tried 4 other pubs but it appears that the landlords at Gillingham like to sleep till noon.

The welcoming was not overfriendly but it was ok. There were 3 real ales on sale, all more different breweries so the choice was nice.

They do food as reasonable prices around 5 - 6 for a fish or meat meal.

They do have a funny dog, it must have been deadtired as she laid on the ground a couple of seconds later she snored. Was very funny that was.

Near the high street it wasn't a bad pub. And I would recommend it to someone visiting Gillingham in search for a real ale in peacefull atmosphere.
