Finding a Samuel Smith's pub in the Cotswolds was surprising and the whole experience was all a little Royston Vasey-ish (one chap in the car park asked us which village he was in). The Old Brewery Bitter was a whopping £4.70 a pint but it was pretty good; we drank up quickly though and continued our walk back to the Roman villa at Chedworth.

Visitied this pub on a saturday lunchtime with a group of friends, so there were nine of us in total. Made to feel very welcome.
Food was inexpensive, plentiful and very good quality - and most importantly delivered in a sensible amount of time.
If you're after large plates with small portions - this is NOT the place for you as they serve good solid pub grub with little or no empty space left on the plate.
Would heartily recommend the place and would glady return.

We were staying in Withington for a couple of days and went to the Mill Inn for something to eat and drink. On arrival we were greeted by a very miserable bar person who made no attempt to make us welcome. The pub itself is full of character but sadly that is as far as it goes. We were the only customers and now I know why. The food was awful, the bread was stale and the choice of alcholic drinks were just strange!!!. The bar person then hinted that we should leave which we eventually did.
At 5am my partner was violently sick which we have no doubt was caused by the burger and strange beer he consumed.(he only had a few pints). We plan to report this incident to enviromental health.
Its a great shame as apparently this pub was the centre of the village until Samuel Smiths took it over.
Please please save this pub from further disgrace by having better bar staff , better products and a inspection fron the food hygiene inspectors.
Thank you

went to this pub today while on a walk, was not impressed! Our food took an hour to arrive, our two friends eventually got their food first from a rude waitress, we asked if our other meals were coming and she said they were. Ten to fifteen minutes later no food so I asked the bar man and another five to ten miuntes we got our food - our friends had nearly finished! The roast dinner was awful, all from frozen and no effort put in to it - Aunt Bessie would of been proud!

I have just visited the Mill at Withington in Gloucestershire, it was supposed to be a family meal to celebrate several birthdays...... we have been going to The Mill for over 40 years and my parents celebrated their engagment there! We have decided as a family never to visit The Mill again which has made this day extremely sad! After a dissapointing meal there before we decided to still give it a chance but unfortunately it was still a dissapointment! On ordering the meal they told us that it would take approx. 40 minutes, which didnt bother us because we had lots to talk about! But one and a half hours later the children had eaten all the biscuits I had in my bag and the management still informed us that it would be 5 minutes! When the food arrived it was very bland and cold and not one of the 8 meals looked very appetising! Even the children turned their nose up at the Sausage and very lumpy mash! My father was not happy after paying for these meals and decided to have a quite word with the landlady.............big mistake, as her face looked liked thunder and she blamed the brewery for not allowing her to employ any more staff! She did not apologise and just seemed to be very lacking in Management Customer Service Skills! Its no suprise that the staff looked miserable working there! The previous Management had fantastic reviews from all my family members and most had become regular visitors! nil out of ten, I could go into the minuses! Know we have to look for another place for family gatherings, and we do have alot of them!
