In this evening's hot weather I didn't fancy one of the ales I had last time so sat outside with a £4.65 pint of Peroni. There are just 7 tables out front crammed into a tiny space and they were all busy with people watching the traffic go by. If you are sitting outside the front of a town centre Stratford pub, then I guess the Dirty Duck has the best "view".

I tried all 4 of the Fullers beers last night which were Seafarers Ale, London Pride, ESB and Bengal Lancer ranging from £3.50 to £3.80. Also had a super meal which was not overly priced although perhaps a little pretentious in places (e.g. a 62 degree celcius hen's egg and mashed potato served in a tiny saucepan). My potted mackerel starter was £6 and pork chop was £12.95 to give an idea of the prices although there was also a fixed price menu. The pub itself is attractive with wood panelling, timber framing, wooden floors, open fires etc. One of the better pubs in Stratford and preferable to the comparable Falcon.

Pricey but decent pint of London Pride. No doubt to cover the cost of the 3,000,000 refurbishment. Decent menu though which is priced ok.

This is an ancient bar and lounge within the White Swan Hotel. As you enter the hotel take either of the first two doors to the right for the lounge or the third door to enter the small bar area. The lounge has low ceilings, a fantastic mural on the wall protected behind glass, bookcases, wood panelling and mullioned windows. There are leather sofas, huge armchairs around a central fireplace. Its a step back in time, a fantastic place for a quiet pint in classic surroundings. The small bar area is also wood panelled and has 3 handpumps on the bar. They were serving GK IPA, Pride and Purity Mad Goose. The Mad Goose was a very good pint. Now for the only bit of bad news, the prices are very modern. This was the most expensive place we drank in the whole two days, 7.10 for a Mad Goose and a 175ml glass of red wine, the rest of Stratford will get to this level in about mid 2012 I suspect. Its still a great place and despite the prices we called back the following night.

A hotel bar that is quite nice. Very quiet. The bar is a bit small. Beer is ok. Ales are Bass if memory serves me correctly. Staff can be a bit hit and miss. Generally ok though.
